On a damp slippery track, caution into the first corner was required.
The front two negociated the turn but Falding behind lost the back end and half spun. Platts with nowhere to go completed the spin and the drivers behind took evasive action.
However one driver hit the fence and several followed which blocked the track and the red flags were thrown. A complete restart.
Whilst the whole grid were waiting for Falding to sort his damage out, the weather turned and the track became completely dry.
Only Bill McGowan #369 didn't take the restart. A couple of laps in, a melee on the pits bend ended with Paul Montegue #381 rolling and caused a race stoppage.
On the restart Falding who was in 3rd had an issue and had backed off causing a huge gap to the leading duo. The green was thrown and the top two sped off leaving the rest to push Falding around the pits bend.
Falding came to a standstill on the start line whilst the the lead duo were already catching the tail end.
Falding managed to re-join albeit a lap down but as no great dramas unfolded during the rest of the race his drive to 6th place was remarkable.
Meantime Wainman & Smith played follow my leader and almost lapped the entire field. It was a good five minutes after the race finished before they announced that Chambers was 3rd.
