How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
The biggest adrenalin rush in my life ... and that includes driving Formula Rockinghams, Attending Silverstone Rally School, Racing Rebels, Racing Bangers, Karting, Bungee jumping , bungee rocketing, diving with sharks in Mexico, Aquasphering, water skiiing, firing machine guns in the Royal Navy and flying in helicopters in the Royal Navy ...there is nothing like it!!!
What gave you the incentive to race
I just wanted to get out there and say I'd had a go, I could never afford to do it full time, but to have lined up behind the likes of Lund, Clarke, Falding and Wainman Snr for my first race will stay with me forever. I will never criticise any driver for "not doing this or not doing that"....until you've been out there and tried to tame one of these amazing cars (with 30 drivers racing past you - literally)....it's hard to judge anyones racing prowess!
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
Borrowed, two meetings at NIR from Craig Smith (407) - World Masters 1992 and Winter Olympique Oct 1992- eternally grateful to Craig, Dick and Jane for the opportunity!
Memory of your first race.
Getting a rush of adrenalin so huge into my legs that I stalled as the rolling lap started . I also remember being really proud of the fact that when I saw the video, I'd actually made my rear tyres smoke a little coming off the bends....lol.
Best Racing Memory
The grin on my face after I finished that first race - especially after Dan Clarke (who I knew from his infamous parties) came up to me and asked if I'd found 2nd gear ....always was the funny man lol.
Worst Racing Memory
My feet catching fire in the 3 rd race of that first meeting, hence why I got a second meeting. Some kind of oil leak had my rigger boots lighting up...I remember jumping out of the car onto the outside perimeter at NIR with no waved yellows...that wouldn't happen today!
Reason for Retiring
Money....VERY LIMITED knowledge of car building
eparing.... storage area....oh and two children!
After Retiring - What Then?
Marshalling for Incarace on the outside of Turns 1 and 2 gives me the buzz (well 45% of it anyway!) I have since rented Rebels on a now and then basis and may well get strapped in again when the kids have flown the nest. Until then, I just enjoy making sure todays crop of drivers have a safe meeting!
