How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
Through watching Bangers at Sunnyvale, Halifax. Kid Wobbler #488 did a demo in his F1 and we asked him where they raced. We went the following week to Rochdale.
What gave you the incentive to race
Frankie Wainman Snr convinced my Dad that, as we did so many meetings as spectators, if one of us raced we could get 4 people in for nothing and get paid £15 to turn up, in effect it would cost us hardly anything!!!!!
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
Raced a couple of Wainman Hire cars, the first car we bought was the ex #29 Alex McDade car, who I was a mechanic for. I took his racing number too. My first new car was a Wainman built car. Our first self build was a copy of that car.
Memory of your first race.
My only memory of my first meeting was hearing the rolling lap music at Aycliffe and then next thing realising I had finished the race.
Best Racing Memory
Probably winning the Crewe Semi Final 1988, but a lot of other good ones for different reasons. The reception I recieved at my first world final at Odsal, then winning the consolation at the same meeting. The trips we had to Baarlo, Holland.
Worst Racing Memory
A bad Crash at Coventry very similar to the one that killed Gimpy Goodhall, I only really remember waking up in hospital.
Reason for Retiring
Which time?? lol Business and they changed the compound on the "Sportsman" controlled tyre which made our engine un-competative, it was either a case of spend a fortune or pack in, I had a young family and decided to go via that route.
After Retiring - What Then?
Did nothing for a few years then decided to go racing Ministox with my eldest lad, Unfortunatly the costs were crazy so decided to go Grasstrack racing instead. Did that for a few years but it did not float my boat so decided to look at something else. Saw a video clip of Stokkarts on Youtube and thought it would be fun for my boys to do. The rest as they say is History... ended up liking it that much we bought the company.. as Victor Kyam would say
