Terry started racing back in 1955, but had a break until 1960, finally retiring in 1976.
With only a handful of wins to his name, Terry was never the prolific driver, but was a great Chairman for the BSCDA.
Sadly Terry passed away in December 1980, leaving his son Bill #28 to continue racing with BriSCA.
The Terry Gill Trophy was donated to the BSCDA in memory of Terry who was a BSCDA Committee Member from 1965 to 1976, eight of those years as Chairman in three separate spells
In 1981 & 1982 it was raced for at Belle Vue
In 1983, 1984 & 1985 it was awarded by the Committee on merit or sportsmanship.
In 1986, 1987 & 1988 it was voted for by the members for achievement. In each of those three years the World Champion won it.
From 1989 the trophy has been awarded to the driver winning the most W/Y/B Grade Awards.
