How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
Mum and Dad took myself and Colin (ex 135) to the old Belle Vue in the sixties.
What gave you the incentive to race
First raced grasstrack cars in the late sixties with the interest in stockcars we thought we would have a go.
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
The first car we bought was from Mick Gamble from Leicester which was a 3.4 Jaguar with ford pilot front axle. We only raced that a handful of times then we bought a car off Ray Leigh ex 346. This had a Ford 352cu in engine. Our 3rd car we built ourselves which at first had a 390cu in Ford then later a Holman Moody 427. My last car had a 454 chevy which i bought off Eric Hullah ex 275 from Harrogate.
Memory of your first race.
My first race was at Cadwell Park I had never seen the track until I drove onto it for my heat. Most of the time I spent on the bank at the bottom of the very steep hill, on had small drum brakes on the Jag.
Best Racing Memory
Getting 10th in the world final at Coventry in 1985
Worst Racing Memory
Rolling my chevy at Bradford, I had other rolls at Nelson Sheffield and Aycliffe but the Bradford one hurt.
Reason for Retiring
No money!!!!
After Retiring - What Then?
Now I help my eldest son Kyle F2 ex 134 now 136 to weld his car back together until he learns how wide the tracks are!
