DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
Started going to meetings with my parents back in the 70's from about the age of two. Vividly remember having my photo taken sitting in a Gold topped Dave Chisolm #252 car.

What gave you the incentive to race
My dad used to look after Pete Bashford #107 car and also mechaniced for Danny Clarke #203 during the late 70's and early 80's. As a youngster i use to eat sleep and breath stockcars so it was inevitable that once old enough i'd have ago myself.

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
My first meeting was in a car owned by Ian Hall #381. I also had outings in cars borrowed from Danny Clarke#203 and Paul Harrison then #22 before building my own car which was an brand new unfinished Alan Young chassis brought from the Casserley's and finished off by Dad and myself.

Memory of your first race.
My first race was August 1988 at Kings Lynn in a borrowed Ian Hall #381 car which my dad had built for him, I don't remember much about the race but I do remember having a 4" thick cushion behind me so i could reach the pedals and steering wheel.

Best Racing Memory
As a spectator and Willie Harrison fan it was seeing #2 lift the world title trophy at Belle Vue 1982. As a mechanic it was helping my dad build a car for Pete Bashford #107 and watching the car win out the box at Cov 1985. As a driver so far it was following up my Coventry final win with a win in the Grand national from the one lap handicap, the look on the faces of brother Charlie and mechanic Johno as they came on track after that race you'd have thought we'd just won the World Final.

Worst Racing Memory
In a race where second place is good enough, I took Matt Bennett #413 and myself out of the '95' Consolation Semi whilst in first and second place and looking (up to that point) a dead cert to go through to the World Final.
