How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
My dad lived 700 yds from Coventry stadium on the Binley Road, Bingley Woods
What gave you the incentive to race
He took a stock car as a payment for a debt he was owed.
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
Not sure on this, he did borrow Stu Smith's Gertie car for the 1976 World Final, built his own car in 1977 in the National Breakdown colours. He also bought the ex Willie Harrison Aubrey Leighton car in the early 1970's. A picture of this all painted up, made front cover of the 1972 Custom Car Magazine with Wilf Blundell no 75.
Memory of your first race.
Sorry can't answer that, I was too young to know.
Best Racing Memory
Winning four finals in a row in 1976, Coventry, Oxford, Long Eaton and last but not least Leicester, which was sponsored by National Breakdown, who then decided they would like to sponsor my dad. Then going on to win the semi final and being on the front row of the World Final 1976. And best of all being "Personality of the Year".
Worst Racing Memory
Apart from the tragic accident. What a memory going to crewe stadium, breaking down on the way eventually getting there to find the pits gate blocked by a parked car. All occupants on the coach bumped the car to one side allowing us to get the coach in to the pits. Parked in the greyhound toilet (looking at how much dog poo around there was!), went out to race, did half a lap got alot of damage to the stockcar, loaded up and headed home, got to Spaghetti Junction bus going very well, above the speed limit until two con rods came outside the engine block and caused a oil slick on the M6 for 1 mile, we managed to get a breakdown truck to tow us home costing an arm and leg. We got the bus into the field at home where the breakdown truck got bogged down in the field. Time now 3am in the morning. Had to call local farmer to tow out the breakdown truck with his tractor more expense! What a evening, I think you will agree it was a nightmare.
