How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
I was taken by my neighbour at the age of 12, to Walthamstowe as they knew I was interested in cars.
What gave you the incentive to race
I became a supporter of Alan Cayzer #266, and always wanted to be part of it.
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
When Alan's car came up for sale, I purchased it via Eric Taylor
Memory of your first race.
It was at New Cross 1968, which ran while Harringay was unable to. It was a great feeling, finished the race with no damage but do remember Reg Pryor badly cutting his hand in a racing incident.
Best Racing Memory
Without doubt, winning the Brisca Supreme at Brafield 1972. Followed up by finishing 5th in the GN, from a lap handicap and with 18 reds in the field!!. I believe I could have won it if Fred Skinner #228 hadnt have got in my way and slowed me down.
Worst Racing Memory
Sustaining injuries in a crash at Brands Hatch, that I still suffer from to this day. I put my rear wheel on the grass causing me to spin and head backwards into the grass banking. I got out of the car but then remember nothing until I awoke in Hospital.
Reason for Retiring
Back Injury - Doctors strongly advised against racing again.
After Retiring - What Then?
I continued to spectate, but once I moved to Norfolk, I lost touch with the sport for around 10 years. However I did manage to race in the Veterans Race on two separate occassions. Recently I met Barry Bye (Scota) and we have teamed up to build a replica car for the Heritage Section which we hope to have running by April 2011.
