How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
I first went to Nelson Stadium in 1967 and was hooked immediatley!
What gave you the incentive to race
Colin Townson offered me a drive in his car as a reward for building the mini bodied car for him
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
I used to help Henry Wolfenden and Barry Altham and got involved with the building of their cars. My first car was Colin Townsons Barker car with a 440 Chrysler engine and it did just have some power, it was the best engine I ever had my right foot on that car went to Neil Briggs 87
Memory of your first race.
My memory of my first race is Willie putting Simon Gill into me at the old Belle Vue I was spun at the end of the straight and thought this is going to hurt! and I was right.
Best Racing Memory
My first ever tarmac race was a 36 car Novice of the Year at Odsal. And after a restarted race I won it.
Worst Racing Memory
Worst big hit was at Sheffield I hit that fence and knocked myself out, lost my memory, chipped a tooth had a bruise that went from ankle to knee, yes its true that fence is blooming hard!!!
Reason for Retiring
I bought a business in 1982 so no funds for racing.
After Retiring - What Then?
After retiring I have always been involved with racing I built a fair few cars for John Toulson 286, Ray Tyldesley 85, and two for David Toulson 86, and one for Richard Mason 202. I came out of retirement and raced Tillys car a few times, then had a do in f2s around 88 89 retired again had family and then had another go in 06 and 07 even managed a final win at Sheffield not bad for an over 50. My son races now another Lund on the tracks so I will continue to help him and hope to have a new car built for 2011 but the thing we don't have is time - work comes first !
