Harry Smith #219 / #100 was a flamboyant driver whom started racing in 1973. He quickly became a crowd favourite at his local northern tracks, and wasn't afraid to mix it.
He raced possible the most noticeable car, the "Batmobile", but retired in 1978. Never really able to stay away, Harry returned in 1980 and for the next ten years was a formidable driver.
In 1984, he started his semi on pole and finished a credible 2nd, but failed to sparkle in the World Final.
On May 16th 1990, Harry won the Hednesford Final, the first non-grade driver to do so since Hednesford re-opened in 1988, but alas a few weeks later Harry was killed in a tragic road accident.
The Memorial Trophy is awarded to the Final Winner of the night at the World Final meeting.
