A trophy was arranged to be raced for annually, starting in 1978 at the Christmas Meetings.
In 1981, the meeting was changed to one of the last Northampton meetings of the season and the race changed to the Grand National.
The trophy wasn't raced for in 1987, but was raced for up until 1997, when the winner of the trophy that year could not be located the following season and thus the trophy was "Lost" forever.
WEBMASTERS NOTE : The Memorial Trophy was found in early 2012 amongst the effects of the late Bev Greenhalf.
