Steve registered as #510 in 1980, but it's not known as to whether he did make it out on track. In 1981, Steve took a new number #240 and became an entertainer.
Always raced with a smile, never having gained a blue roof, but it wasn't for a lack of trying!!!
Having qualified for the final, via a consolation 6th, at Bradford on 1st June 1984, Steve hit the armco fence very hard and incurred serious injuries, from which he was not to recover.
Steve was in Intensive Care at Leeds Royal Infirmary, for some time, and died some weeks after the accident.
The Memorial Trophy was paid for by "Three Counties Supporters Club", "South Yorkshire Supporters Club" and "Tony & Will Merrill".
The Steve Froggatt Memorial Trophy was awarded to the winner of the GN at the Trust Fund meeting until 2005.
Recently it has gone to the top scoring white / yellow at the Trust Fund Meeting.
