The trophy was inaugurated in 1967 and was to honour Frida Arnold who had tragically died so soon after becoming a mother.
The trophy was originally a shield with an engraved centre piece of a lap chart (Frida being a lap scorer).
However, Peter himself was killed after suffering a heart attack whilst driving home from commentating at a Reading Speedway Meeting.
The trophy was then overgraved with a microphone emblem to signify the two jobs that had made them a famous team.
The Memorial Trophy was simply re-named the "Arnold's Memorial Trophy".
